Course Overview
This course has been specifically designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to become a Domestic Electrician/Domestic Installer combined with ability to design, install, service and commission Solar PV Systems. The qualifications and skills gained on this course will allow you to join a Government approved Competent Person Scheme and a Microgeneration Certification Scheme. This will allow you to carry out electrical and solar installations and self certify that your own work meets the requirements set by Government legislation.
This course consists of the following modules:
Key Stage Electrical Course This module will be provide customers with the skills and know-how to reach the required levels of competency in basic domestic electrical principles. It covers the essential training and knowledge prior to taking the Domestic Installers course and lasts 5 days.
City & Guilds 2393 - Level 3 Certificate in the Building Regulations for electrical installations in a dwelling (2393-10) (Known as - Part P Qualification) This course module focuses on providing you with a good working knowledge and understanding of Part P of the Building Regulations. The Building Regs include 14 technical parts of which Part P is applicable to Electrical Safety within Domestic Dwellings. Knowledge in this area is a crucial part of becoming and electrician as, since January 1st 2005, all domestic electrical installation work carried out must meet current Building Regulations. This module of the course is taken over 2 days.
This course will deliver the requirements of the Building Regulations along with other knowledge required to help you along your journey in becoming a Domestic Installer. This particular course goes beyond what is required to just past an exam. We will give you valuable skills and knowledge to aid you in your everyday work.
City & Guilds 2382 - 17th Edition Wiring Regulations 2008 The 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations 2008 is a required qualification to join any Government approved Part P Competent Installer scheme. In this module, our trainers and course leaders will provide you with the information necessary to pass the open book exam, which will be taken on the 3rd and final day of the course.
The 17th Edition Wiring Regulations 2008 is a large green book which consists of 494 pages full of rules and regulations which you are required to follow as a Domestic Electrician. Those training with us will not be expected to learn the entire book in 3 days - Instead, the focus will be on familiarising you with the book design, the numbering system and its structure instead. In doing so, you will be empowered to reference it effectively in a professional environment.
During this course we will also introduce you to the On Site Guide which is a far more user friendly book and is generally referred to for common Domestic Electrical work questions. This course module lasts 3 days and is all classroom based.
City & Guilds 2392 - Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification This 5 day course module is aimed at teaching you how to correctly test and inspect circuits in order to ensure they are safe and meet the industry regulations. Once you understand how to install or alter circuits, we will teach you how to do a variety of dead tests, using a 17th Edition Multifunction tester to prove that there are no faults in the circuit and that it is safe to turn the power back on.
When the power has been turned on, the ET4U instructor will show you how to execute some live tests, ensuring that both the dead and live tests meet the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations 2008. Finally, we will teach you how to fill in all associated paperwork. Once you have successfully completed this 5 day course module, you will hold the skills, knowledge and experience required to join a Government approved Part P competent scheme.
Solar PV Course - (Duration - 5 Days - Accredited by BPEC) This course has been specifically designed to give you all the necessary skills and knowledge to design, install, commission and service Solar Photovoltaic systems which will enable you to apply to join a microgeneration certification scheme. In Addition to the recommended BPEC Solar Training Course you will receive an additional 2 Days to focus exclusively on the Practical side of installing Solar PV Equipment which is essential in training you for real life scenarios.
